AquaCultured Seafood Limited announces the successful dismissal of the judicial review by North East Lincolnshire Council

AquaCultured Seafood Limited is delighted to announce North East Lincolnshire Council’s successful rebuttal of the long running judicial review of the planning application for a land based Aquaculture Facility at New Clee, Grimsby, meaning that plans for construction which had originally been granted in November 2023 are able to proceed.

As part of the approved plans, AquaCultured Seafood Limited has pledged its commitment to advancing responsible seafood practices and striving to ensure the environmental, social and economic performance of the sector, which will increase the availability of healthy, nutritious and responsibly raised seafood in line with animal health and welfare standards.

In addition to increasing availability of healthy and nutritious seafood for consumers, the development of the New Clee Aquaculture facility will involve the creation of more than 300 local jobs including approximately 100 permanent, long-term jobs affording local people new skills opportunities.

By creating jobs and using local contractors, AquaCultured Seafood Limited supports the fish processing community of the North East, laying groundwork for a resilient and prosperous future, stimulating economic growth and strengthening the fabric of the community.

Representatives from AquaCultured Seafood Limited share how this landmark step will help transform the community and bring healthy and nutritious seafood to retail shelves and foodservice that have been impacted by increased costs and overseas tariffs in recent years.

The New Clee aquaculture facility brings world class aquaculture development to the North East, continuing the ‘Made Great in Grimsby’ story and commencing the next chapter in the town’s 1000-year fishing history.
