Take part in the Esmee Fairbairn UK aquaculture research

Under their work on sustainable and ethical food, the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation is keen to better understand the UK aquaculture sector in terms of its challenges and opportunities, for both the environment and communities. They have contracted Melanie Siggs, working with the Key Traceability team, to help them do that.

The Foundation recognises the significant environmental and economic potential good aquaculture could provide both in terms of sustainable and ethical food, and for communities. However, they are also mindful there are risks and unsustainable practices that may be damaging.

“We are assessing aquaculture in the four UK home countries, the NGO capacity to work with and influence the sustainable development of aquaculture, the barriers, and where their efforts are currently directed, for example key projects or programmes. Furthermore we are aiming to identify examples of innovation and good practice that demonstrate excellent environmental benefits as well as strong links to the local community.”

This survey is quite detailed. You can complete it in part and return to it to finish if you run out of time, but we very much appreciate your valuable expert input. We estimate it will take you 10-15 minutes.

Please feel free to share the survey with your networks as appropriate.
