Umitron update Pulse – a satellite-based ocean monitoring service

In 2019, the Umitron team released Pulse, a satellite-based ocean monitoring service allowing farmers to access real-time, high-resolution environmental data worldwide via their desktop and mobile devices. Since then, they have been developing and releasing new features based on frequent feedback and interviews.

The most recent updates to the service include:
● A refreshed user interface for both web and mobile
● Two new datasets (ocean current and wind).
● The inclusion of long-term historical data for coastal regions.

A great way to use this data is for risk management: users will be able to look into the past to compare year-on-year data across multiple parameters and confirm/identify potential trends associated with specific events that have adversely affected their production. In addition, knowing these “triggers” may help them plan and develop future mitigative measures to reduce mortality.

From this month and for a limited time, all users accessing Umitron Pulse on the desktop version will be able to access 2-years of historical data for free to view their site data and chart it against their fish performance.
