Bluegrove presents solutions to improve health, welfare and growth in salmon farming

During Aquaculture UK, aquatech company Bluegrove will showcase an AI powered feeding solution and a variety of robust equipment that help fish farmers produce more meals for the world, while lowering feed waste and improving animal health and welfare in aquaculture.

Optimized feeding

The Bluegrove feeding system combines data gathered from hydroacoustic sensors with biological and environmental data. While a camera sees about 1 to 3% of the cage, hydroacoustics can observe about 70% of the entire cage.

The feeding system recognizes patterns in the behavior of the fish. Guided by the online dashboard, farmers know exactly when and how much to feed the fish, based on data and objective analysis of fish behavior and appetite. The system can even feed fully autonomously.

Equipment

At the booth, Bluegrove will also showcase a variety of equipment, aimed to improve the growth, health and welfare of fish in cages.

The Mid-Norwegian Ring, for example, also known as the ‘Salmon Jacuzzi”, is an undercage aeration system which improves the water quality by lifting water into the cage from below. This is especially useful for farmers who want to keep their lice skirts and tubenets in place, therefore protecting the fish against sea lice in an environment that encourages growth and safeguards health and welfare standards.

The Loke Cone Feed Spreader is known to be one of the most robust feeders in the world, withstanding even the toughest weather conditions. The Loke Cone Feed Spreader gives a larger and more evenly spread of feed and lets farmers start earlier with feeding, improving control.

More equipment, a demo of our feeding solution, and our sensors can be found at the booth.
