Supporting Scotland’s Aquaculture Sector for a Sustainable Future

The Cabinet Secretary’s address will focus on the Scottish Government’s long-term aspirations for a sustainable aquaculture sector in Scotland and progress made towards achieving that goal. Highlights include the Vision for Sustainable Aquaculture to 2045; progress following the independent review of aquaculture consenting; ongoing work to protect the environment and our support for innovation to face shared challenges. We’re making progress on our commitments and we look forward to continued collaborative working with all parties.

    Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and Islands, The Scottish Government

    Mairi Gougeon was appointed Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs, Land Reform and Islands in March 2023.

    Mairi was elected as MSP for Angus North and Mearns in May 2016.

    Mairi joined the government in 2018 and became Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs in 2021. Previous roles have included Minister for Public Health and Sport, and Minister for Rural Affairs and the Natural Environment.
