Large-scale aquaculture project in Norway

SIMONA Stadpipe is supplying piping systems for an exciting large-scale aquaculture project in the Norwegian town of Breivik. The fish farm will require no less than 11,800 m of pipes. The costumer, Salten Smolt, handles the salmon from the time it hatches out of the egg until it can be found in shops and restaurants all over the world.

A two-year project under way to build a salmon farm, specifically a state-of-art closed system for land-based fish farming. With a total seawater tank capacity of 14,300 m3, the farm can supply 10 million smolts per year, and for future expansions up to 18 million smolts per year. The company Krüger Kaldnes, one of the major suppliers of such systems, is building the fish farm as a turnkey project for its end costumer Salten Smolt. SIMONA Stadpipe is responsible for the entire piping system in accordance with all relevant standards and requirements, which are set for risk analysis, design, execution, operation, user manual and product data sheet.

Ninety-five per cent of the pipes and fittings are made from PE 100, and includes the delivery of 11,800 m of pipes for the project. SIMONA Stadpipe will also provide the project with 900 manual valves in sizes ranging from DN32 to DN600, in addition to special products produced by SIMONA Stadpipe for the aquaculture industry.

The project began in December 2019, with the first smolt set to leave the farm in summer 2022.
